M is for Musical Interlude – 2 Songs by Tom Gillespie & Galway Blonde

We’ve reached the halfway point in the a to z blogging challenge and I think it’s time for a musical interlude…

Song 1

The Maker

I’ve been waiting for that miracle to happen
I’ve been waiting for that shooting star to come
I’ve been twisting and stumbling in the darkness
Falling through the spaces of what I have become

I’ve come to meet The Maker, I’ve come to meet the man
I’ve come to meet The Maker, and I hope that Maker understands

I have no regrets just a chip on my shoulder
And I’ve lost all hope of ever coming back
But I crucify my sons and persecute my daughters
For making a success of all the strength my body lacks

I’ve come to meet The Maker, I’ve come to meet the man
I’ve come to meet The Maker, and I hope that Maker understands

Now I stand at the head of the table
But there’s no one there to eat the final meal
So I break the bread and I toast to my future
And the wind helps me reach what I can no longer feel

I’ve been waiting for that miracle to happen
I’ve been waiting for that shooting star to come
I’ve been twisting and stumbling in the darkness
Falling through the spaces of what I have become

I’ve come to meet The Maker, I’ve come to meet the man
I’ve come to meet The Maker, and I hope that Maker understands

 Song 2

Just like a man

There’s nobody in here, there’s nothing to do, but
Spread my thoughts out and pick one that reminds me of you
Turn it over in the palm of my hand
And try to remember how it was to feel
Just like a man

It’s dark as a tomb but I can still see your face
With lips like fire and your eyes filled with empty space
Then you whisper, ‘there’s something I don’t understand,
How come sometimes you talks to me
Just like a man.’

Well I could explain, but I don’t have the time
It all gets so mixed up and changed inside my mind
Please forgive me I can’t help the way I am
I was born to live and die and love
Just like a man

Like a man I am split in two
By thoughts a thousand miles from you
Like a man, I am caught between
What’s to come and what might have been

When it’s over, when it’s all said and done
We turn full circle and change from nothing to one
It’s not what I wanted it’s not what I planned
I’m living a lie but I’m faking it
Just like a man
